The Good Five Cent Cigar
When I arrived at the University of Rhode Island in the fall of 2016, I knew I wanted to write for the student run newspaper, The Good Five Cent Cigar. I started writing as a contributing reporter my first week on campus. My first assignment was a women's volleyball game and ever since then I have been covering Rhode Island sports for the Cigar.

In my junior year I was elected as the Sports Editor. After two years of growing, learning and developing my writing I was ready to become editor. As editor I was responsible for coming up with and assigning stories to my writers. In addition to that I was also tasked with editing all the sports articles as well as some news too. In my three years as a writer for the Cigar I have covered and written some of the biggest sports stories like the hiring of a new basketball coach, going to and covering the 2019 Atlantic Ten Basketball Tournament in Brooklyn, and more!

Throughout my time with the Cigar I have refined my writing and have grown as a journalist in ways I did not expect. In final months as editor I focused more on features and telling individual stories. For me that was my favorite part and I believe my writing reflected that. I have written a total of 53 articles for The Good Five Cent Cigar and each one as helped me become the writer I am today!
Below I included a couple of my articles as well as a link to my entire collection of articles!
